European Parliament adopts “Stier Report” on post-2015 Development Agenda. It contains no reference to abortion.

The European Parliament has adopted with 541 votes in favour, 96 against, and 29 abstentions, the Report drafted by MEP Davor Ivo Stier on “The EU and the global development framework after 2015”.

It is notable that attempts by anti-life politicians to introduce into the text a paragraph on sexual and reproductive health  a reference to “family planning, and safe abortion services” –  which, according to them, are “important elements to save women’s lives” – have misfired. It is thus clarified that for the European Parliament the term “sexual and reproductive health services” does not include abortion.
