When discussing “sexual health”, the European Commission shuts out pro-lifers

funding abortionNearly two million citizens, through their endorsement of the European Citizen’s Initiative “ONE OF US”, have asked the European Commission to stop using EU Development Aid funds to finance abortions – but the Commission isn’t listening to them. Instead, it remains on very chummy terms with the abortion industry.

Next Wednesday DG DEVCO will hold a conference with the title “Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR): A smart investment for global health and development”. The four invited speakers are exclusively drawn from the most radical abortion lobby groups: IPPF, Marie Stopes, Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung, and the (less prominent) ICRH. devcoBy contrast, no possibility to express their views is given to the representatives of pro-life groups, or to experts who might present projects on “sexual health” that don’t include abortion.

With this tableau of invitees, the Commission sends yet another message to citizens that it is not willing to listen to them.

The hint that SRHR are a “smart investment” gives a clear hint that the Commission’s actual priority is not to improve the health and well-being of people in developing countries, but to reduce their fertility rates: the children that are aborted today will not be able to immigrate to the EU tomorrow. A “smart investment” indeed.
