Germany: Woman aged 65 gives birth to quadruplets

We’d rather leave this news uncommented and restrict us to the facts.

Mrs. Annegret R., a retired teacher, has given birth to quadruplets earlier this week. the children were delivered by cesarean section in the 26th week of the pregnancy, i.e. with 14 weeks anticipation. The mother is well, and the children are alive, although doctors speak of possible complications.

This is yet another case of reproductive tourism.  Mrs. R. has travelled to Ukraine to have the four embryos, conceived in vitro with the sperm of different donors, implanted into her uterus. She says she decided to do this when the youngest of her (then)13 children, now aged ten, expressed the wish for a younger sibling.
