Anti-life lobby wins another vote in the EP – this time on “child pregnancies in Paraguay”

Somewhat eclipsed by the narrow outcome of the vote on the controversial Noichl-Report on Tuesday, the European Parliament has on Thursday adopted yet another text to undermine the right to life of unborn children. To achieve this objective, the anti-life groups (i.e. Socialists, Communists, Greens, “Liberals”, and the extreme-right EFDD) feigned concern over teenage pregnancies in Paraguay – truly an issue at the very heart of the EU’s competences… 

As might be expected, the self-proclaimed health and education experts in the EP have two universal panaceas against teenage pregnancies: abortion on demand, and the and the free distribution of contraceptive pills to schoolgirls right from the beginning of puberty. (Obviously, the Resolution they adopted contains also the usuall call for “sexual education”, which however for them does not include telling the kids that they should have sex only with the person they want to share parenthood with…)

para vote2Sadly, the attempt of EPP and ECR to counteract this newest abortion-cum-contraception propaganda through a reasonably drafted alternative motion was narrowly defeated with 299 to 320 votes. This time, both the EPP (93.62% of group members participating in the vote)  and the ECR (77.87%) groups mustered an unusual discipline in voting pro-life, but the left-wing parties showed even greater cohesion…

The vote instructs the President of the EP to forward the Resolutionto  the Government and Congress of the Republic of Paraguay, where it probably will receive the treatment it deserves…
