Speaking at the “She Decides” conference in Brussels on 2 March, convened to raise funds for abortion-providers such as IPPF and Marie Stopes International, Neven Mimica, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, stated that the EU Commission will keep using “our funds” for family planning services around the world, which he explained includes so-called “safe abortion”.
Previously, the European Commission had always been cautious about the issue, insisting that they have no “policy on abortion” or do not “promote abortion”, and that they respect the legal framework of the countries in which they operate. But, bolstered by the anti-Trump frenzy unleashed by radical feminist organisations after the US President re-introduced the so-called “Mexico City Policy” of banning US development funds from being used to carry out abortions, the EU Commission has let the mask fall.
Commissioner Mimica, once a communist apparatchik in the former Yugoslavia, claimed to be “proud to announce that we will continue to support the work of our partners like UNFPA, UNICEF, IPPF”. So while one of the world’s largest and wealthiest abortion businesses, IPPF, is under investigation in the US for allegedly selling organs of aborted babies, the EU commission is proud of channelling EU tax-payer euros into their already deep pockets.
The Commissioner even pledged to mobilise “additional funding to fill the gaps and support Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Comprehensive Family Planning, education, information and preventive health programmes.” This of course is the usual Orwellian language used by the friends of the abortion industry to hide what they really mean – industrial scale murder of unborn children.
